The activities at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO focus on issues relating to working people. We look for solutions for a future worth living, for innovation and growth and for a sustainable development of the environment and society. In particular, we support companies in recognising the potential of innovative organisational forms and forward-looking technologies, adapting them individually to their needs and applying them consistently. The bundling of management and technological expertise ensures that economic success, employee interests and social impacts are always given equal consideration.
Through close cooperation with the Institute for Industrial Engineering and Technology Management IAT at the University of Stuttgart, Fraunhofer IAO combines basic university research, application-oriented science and business practice. Under a joint institute management, around 400 employees at the Fraunhofer IAO and the IAT work together on an interdisciplinary basis. We have more than 10,500 square meters of modern offices, laboratories and demonstration centers at our disposal to process research assignments.
