Human-Machine Interfaces in passenger cars and fleet vehicles often overlook users with physical, sensory, or cognitive impairments. This presentation explores the fundamentals of HMI design, the challenges of creating barrier-free systems, and the transformative potential of inclusive UX. By shifting from driver-centric models to user-centric ecosystems, we can expand mobility options for underserved populations. The goal is to spark ideation and research toward solutions that empower all users—whether they drive or not—to interact with vehicles independently and confidently.
