Alex Kirlik

Professor of Computer Science, University of Illinois

Alex Kirlik received his PhD in human-machine systems engineering from The Ohio State University and is currently a Professor of Computer Science, Systems Engineering, and former Head of Human Factors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has also held positions in either engineering or psychology at Georgia Tech, Stanford University, Yale University, NASA Ames Research Center and the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety.  NASA has sponsored his research on aviation safety and pilot-automation interaction for 25 years.  He is Co-Editor (with J.D. Lee) of the Oxford Handbook of Cognitive Engineering (2013) and Editor of the Oxford Series on Human-Technology Interaction. The National Science Foundation and NASA jointly supported some of the research he will present.
