Understanding how user experiences take place is the first step to designing for better user experiences. With cars, for example, it isn’t just about driving from A to B. It’s about a unique relationship between the user(s), the product, and a dynamic context of use. It is also about how the car fits in the user’s digital and physical ecosystems, how it relates to the user’s expectations, knowledge, concerns, and abilities, and how users feel about it before, during, and after using the car. This session will introduce the SEEX (Stimuli-Evaluation-EXperiential outcome) model, a powerful framework that provides valuable insights into how people engage with products and spaces. Anchored in the user-centered design tradition, and building upon theories in the fields of UX and Positive Psychology, this model facilitates the crafting and fine-tuning of car UX.
