Rico Petrick, born in 1973, began his career with an apprenticeship as an energy electronics technician, followed by studies in electrical engineering, completing both a degree and a doctorate with a specialization in signal processing algorithms. Over the years, he has founded several innovative enterprises, including Linguwerk GmbH in 2010—home to the Embedded AI business unit—followed by the research institution LASA – Lausitz Advanced Scientific Applications gGmbH in 2021, and alpha NT GmbH in 2023.

The Embedded AI unit focuses on cutting-edge technologies and product development in the areas of intelligent sensor systems for automotive, medical, and industrial applications, including UWB (ultra-wideband) sensor technology, smart metering, IoT solutions, and a wide range of research and development activities in applied artificial intelligence and signal processing.
